Protect the Bees Campaign

Did you know that there are 99 bee species in Ireland? And that 78% of wild plants are pollinated by bees? But as of now, populations of more than half of the bee species in Ireland are in substantial decline. So not surprisingly the call from Biodiversity Ireland when talking about its All-Ireland Pollinator Plan was to protect the bees.

Fingal County Council took up this call and following an internal call for slogans, ‘Keep Fingal Buzzing’ became the mantra during the summer months. Through a campaign that spanned print, digital and outdoor, the local authority promoted three succinct messages to increase awareness of the negative effects of mowing and spraying while encouraging the planting of bee-friendly plants.
