A standalone authority - it was always in the pipeline...
In July 2018, the Irish government decided that Irish Water would become a standalone, publicly owned, commercial, regulated utility separated from the Ervia Group during 2023. And so it came to pass on 1st January of this year that Uisce Éireann emerged as the new name for the national utility along with a new brand (created by RichardsDee agency). With a capex exceeding €1billion Uisce Éireann has increased levels of accountability and transparency commensurate with the level of Exchequer funding as it continues with its transformation of the water sector. Uisce Éireann recognises that in order to provide public water and wastewater services to the highest standards requires meaningful engagement with a wide range of stakeholders and the annual report is a key communications tool to inform and report on all aspects of materiality as it implements policies and strategies to build a more sustainable future.
